Apologies
You apologized for kissing me too roughly.
My lips curled into a smile,
blood dripping from the cuts in my lips—
cooper stained teeth grinned back at you.
I apologized for having such frail lips.
You apologized for gripping my hand too tightly.
Bruises formed around my knuckles,
my joints popping under your grasp—
tired fingers stretched back out to you.
I apologized for having such fragile limbs.
You apologized for embracing me too hard.
My ribs cracked against your chest,
bones fracturing and splintering at your touch—
air rushed out, I fell limp back into your arms.
I apologized for holding on too long.
You apologized for breaking my heart.
Dark circles cupped my welling eyes,
crystal tears cascading over these puffy eyes—
my heart pounded loudly, begging to not beat at all.
I apologized for having such a weak heart.
